Cypress police blotter, February 12 to February 18, 2023 - Orange County Breeze

The items shown below are selected from the logs of the Cypress Police Department. The police blotter is not a comprehensive listing of police-related incidents in the city, and no inference of guilt is implied in showing any item in the Cypress police blotter.

  Stolen Vehicle – 12:22 p.m. – 9200 block of Valley View St. – Sometime between 9 a.m. and 12:20 p.m., while the victim was at the swap meet, an unknown suspect stole his gray 2003 Chevrolet pick-up truck. SigAlert – 9:50 p.m. – Orange Ave. between Valley View and Holder – In the construction area, a large exposed pipe that extended down the center of the roadway was struck by an unknown vehicle. The pipe relocated itself into all eastbound lanes of traffic. Public Works responded and a SigAlert was issued for three hours.

  Assist Outside Agency – 12:05 a.m. – 9300 block of Telegraph (Santa Ana) – Santa Ana Police Department was involved in avehicle pursuit that terminated at the stated address. Santa Ana PD requested a K9 to assist with the felony car stop. One male occupants surrendered to the Cypress Police Service Dog without incident. Arrest – 8:17 a.m. – 5000 block of Lincoln Ave. – From a call for service, a subject was arrested for terrorist threats, battery, resisting arrest with violence, battery on a peace officer, false name to police, and refusal to provide a DNA sample.  The subject had originally threatened a female, then assaulted a male patron, then resisted arrest and spit on officers. He was booked at Orange County Jail (OCJ). Pedestrian Check – 9:56 p.m. – Knott/Lincoln – From a pedestrian check, a male subject was arrested for being a felon in possession of a concealed handgun and resisting arrest after he attempted to flee from officers during a search of his person. An officer sustained minor cuts on her left knee while taking the subject into custody. He was booked at OCJ.

  Traffic Stop – 12:24 a.m. – Lincoln/Holder – From a traffic stop, a female subject was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia, misappropriation of lost property and theft of access cards. She was cited and released in the field. Vandalism/Theft – 8:42 a.m. – 9800 block of Valley View St. – On 2/12/23 at 11:02 p.m., a male suspect broke into 4 vending machines and stole $240 cash and caused $3000 in damage.  The suspect was described as male, medium build, wearing a hoodie, gloves and a face mask.  The suspect was carrying a tan, possibly camo print backpack.  Strong Arm Robbery – 4:49 p.m. – 5400 block of Katella Ave. – The victim was approached by a male/female team of suspects in a white Mercedes sedan.  Through forceful coercion, the suspect convinced the victim to place her jewelry in a sock to bless their jewelry together, but then through a diversion gave the victim back a different sock before fleeing.  The loss was $26,000 in jewelry. Injury Traffic Collision – 9:36 p.m. – Ball/Denni – Officers responded to the area of Ball west of Denni to an injury traffic collision. Upon arrival officers observed a single vehicle collision into the cinder block wall on the south side of Ball Rd. The collision created a large amount of debris and Public Works was called out for cleanup. One of the drivers was transported to a hospital.

  Battery Arrest – 8:18 a.m. – 6300 block of Lincoln Ave. – A female transient reportedly assaulted the victim at the laundromat and fled the location.  She was found in the area and arrested for the assault and battery, possession of drug paraphernalia, and a felony warrant. The subject was absentee booked at OCJ.    Grand Theft from a Vehicle – 11:32 a.m. – 5100 block of Brunswick – Between 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday and 8 a.m. today, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and stole prescription glasses and a tennis racket valued at $1500. Structure Fire- 8:29 p.m. – 6800 block of Breton Wy. – Officers responded to the listed location in regards to a garage on fire. Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) responded and distinguished the fire and deemed the cause an accident due to the statements provided by the home owners. There were no injuries; however, the detached garage was destroyed. OCFA deemed the residence habitable and the owners were able to return inside. The City building inspector responded and red tagged the garage. Incident report taken for documentation.

  Battery – 7:06 p.m. – 5600 block of Lincoln Ave. – Two guests who were staying in separate rooms got into a verbal argument that turned physical.  The victim signed a Private Person’s Arrest form, and officers arrested a female subject. The subject was provided with a citation and released from the scene. Grand Theft – 7:20 p.m. – 6800 block of Katella Ave. – Three adult suspects entered the store and stole multiple bottles of Don Julio tequila and Cognac liquor that totaled for $2,195.84. They were last seen fleeing in a vehicle and shortly after a license plate reader at a different city scanned the vehicle. Assist Outside Agency – 9:02 p.m. – 9900 block of Holder St. – Officers responded to a dumpster fire where the flames were getting close to the structure. OCFA was able to put the fire out and the only damage was to the dumpster.  OCFA confirmed it was not arson.

  Vandalism Report – 10:15 a.m. – 9500 block of Valley View St. – At approximately 5:30 a.m., an unknown suspect smashed the front window (one pane only) and stole an affixed lock box from the exterior of the business. The suspect did not gain entry and the damage was $700. The suspect was captured on camera. Arrest – 2:08 p.m. – 9500 block of Valley View St. – While patrolling, a police officer recognized the subject seen on camera during the earlier vandalism and detained him at Walker and Lincoln. After a thorough investigation, the subject was arrested for felony vandalism, petty theft, and possession of fentanyl. He was transported to OCJ for booking. Assault with a Deadly Weapon/Vandalism – 10:34 p.m. – 6200 block of Ronald Dr. – The suspect was seen spray-painting gang type graffiti on a residence brick wall by witnesses. The suspect knew he was caught, so he started to ram the witness’ vehicle with his own. Officers arrived, and police arrested the subject for assault with a deadly weapon and felony vandalism. The subject was transported and booked at OCJ.

  Assist Outside Agency – 4:12 a.m. – Seal Beach Blvd./Old Ranch Pkwy. (Seal Beach) – A solo unit from the Westminster Police Department requested assistance with a high-risk stop involving suspects who just attempted to steal a vehicle in their city. Cypress Officers responded and assisted with giving the suspects commands in Spanish. Grand Theft – 8:38 a.m. – 6000 block of Orange Ave. – Sometime overnight, the victim’s work truck had the utility door lock punched. Over $14,000 worth of tools and equipment were stolen.
