A man collected five charges last week for a fight involving a shotgun.

Officers of the McMinnville Police Department responded to an active fight between a woman and George Andrew Bartz, Jr., 43 at a residence on Beersheba Hwy on Feb. 6. The call came in from a separate third party also on the scene. According to Officer Zach Little, “Upon arrival, I made contact with the victim, who stated that she had been drinking and Bartz had gotten mad and body slammed her.”

According to Little, Bartz also allegedly hit the victim on the right eyebrow with the butt-stock of a shotgun. The victim reportedly showed officers where a lock box was inside the residence which contained marijuana. It reportedly belonged to Bartz.

Bartz allegedly consented to have the box unlocked where they found marijuana and containers holding the marijuana. Little said, “The shotgun was located in the trunk of the caller’s vehicle. The caller stated that upon her arrival to the home, Bartz took the shotgun from the residence and placed it into her vehicle’s trunk.”

Dispatch confirmed Bartz was a convicted felon at the time of the incident with a felony assault charge from 2013. This led to him being charged with unlawful possession of a weapon. Bartz was also charged with aggravated assault, possession of a firearm with intent to go armed, simple possession and possession of unlawful drug paraphernalia uses and activities.

Bartz was arraigned on Tuesday in General Sessions court where his court date is set for April 18.
