VICTORIA, Texas - Local officials are seeking information connected to a possible vehicle theft and ATM burglary that occurred early Monday morning.

At 4:10 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 20, the Victoria Police Department dispatch received an ATM alarm at Trust Texas Bank, 2701 Sam Houston Drive. Officers responded to the scene and discovered that the ATM had been damaged.

During an investigation of the damaged ATM, another officer noticed a red Kia SUV traveling northbound on US Business 59. As the officer turned around to investigate, the vehicle sped up at a high rate of speed initiating a pursuit. The pursuit traveled through Edna and Ganado before being terminated near Louise, Texas.

Shortly after, a Louise resident contacted Wharton County Sheriff's Office and reported an abandoned red Kia SUV on their property. Law enforcement collected the vehicle and transported it back to Victoria as evidence. Further investigation found cash and money boxes inside the vehicle. Authorities believe these items were connected to the ATM burglary.

Following the initial investigation, it is believed that the suspect(s) stole a gold Ford F-250 from a residence in the 1300 block of Polk Ave. at approximately 4 a.m. to commit the burglary. The vehicle was then abandoned in the 100 block of Hampshire Lane at 4:10 a.m. The suspect(s) are believed to have then left in the red Kia SUV.

Authorities are asking anyone with security surveillance systems in the area of either 1300 Pole Ave. or 100 Hampshire Lane to please check their footage around the times of 4 a.m. and 4:10 a.m. You can contact Detective Robinson at jrobinson@victoriatx.gov or call the VPD non-emergency number at 361-573-3221 with any information you may have.

The Victoria Police Department provided the above information.
