Barrie police are searching for a thief — or thieves — after a cash box was stolen from a south-end business early Tuesday morning. 

Just before 2 a.m., Feb,. 14, police say a contractor salting the parking lot of a Hooper Road business spotted a broken glass front door and called authorities.

Police did not release the name of the business. 

Upon arrival at the scene, police observed the damaged front door and determined that whomever was responsible had fled.

With the assistance of the business owner, police say it appears the only item stolen was a cash-style box that contained an undisclosed amount of money and some additional property.

Police were unable to provide any information about suspects in the case.
